So there was Easter. I could have taken pictures of the friends that came for dinner, of the musicians that did such a great job at the service Sunday evening, of the beautiful spring day, but instead...the only picture I have is the centerpiece from our dinner table, compliments of Debby's flower arranging skills. Apr. 12.

Glenda, Cindy, Silver and I took advantage of a warm day and washed our cars. Apr. 11.

For those of you who are suffering through warm spring temperatures and being forced to watch peas and corn and onions grow in your gardens, I offer these pictures taken this morning. Unfortunately, the gently falling snowflakes don't show up very well. In the first picture there, you see my garden, still peacefully resting. In the second, the thigh-high path through the snow to the office. And in the third, my grill, buried in the snow along the sidewalk. April 2.

Pictures from my weekend of babysitting four (five?) kids. Mar. 20-22.

We decided she looks like the little girl in Dr. Seuss books. You know, the one with the little "fountain" hair just like this?

These two warm my heart. Kids are so uninhibited and sometimes you can't help responding.

Last Saturday/Sunday (Mar. 7-8) I went to Kenora for some girl time with friends. First we went shopping for a couple hours. Then we went snowshoeing.

Debby, Cindy, Rachel, Janna, Glenda, Karen, me

Now can you tell who is who?

After our exercise, we went to the Log Cabin Tavern and consumed far more calories than we burned snowshoeing, starting with this blooming onion. I ordered ribs for the first time in my life and enjoyed them.

We finished dinner with dessert at Debby's house. White chocolate mousse with blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

After dessert, we gave each other pedicures. Warm foot baths, gritty scrubs, cool lotion, pink toenail polish, the whole nine yards.

We were all tired so we went to bed around 11:00. On Sunday morning we lingered in bed talking (how many girls fit in one bed?), enjoyed a yummy waffle feast, and then a special time of singing, sharing and prayer for each other. A quick soup lunch and then we left for home. It was a refreshing, fun weekend.

After the prayer retreat, I went to visit MJ in Sudbury. One day her friend D took us to see the giant nickel, a Sudbury landmark. Mar. 3.

I rode the train home from Sudbury. Well, not quite home. I had to drive the last two hours of the trip. I've always wanted to travel by train and I enjoyed the ride.

After the two engines came the baggage car (left), then the coach car that I rode in. This picture shows almost the whole train, so it wasn't a very big one. Eight cars, I think. Mar. 4.

An ice ridge in Black Bay, Dorion, ON. Feb. 25. Our staff team gathered at Dorion Bible Camp on the shore of Black Bay for our annual prayer retreat Feb 24-26. It was a blessing.

Glenda and I catered the Sweetheart Banquet at our church on Feb. 14. It went really well. We had extra time so we picked the stems off 11 bags of spinach so our salad would look prettier. =)

Yours truly trying to make it look like she knows how to carve meat.

We had a wonderful kitchen crew. The serving went quickly and the clean-up was done in record time. Feb. 14.

I work part-time at SkyCare (an air ambulance service). Here the crew is loading the first patient to fly in CPX. It was exciting to see the plane in the air after months of work and preparations. Feb. 11.

Lorna and Cheryl, my nice boss-ladies at SkyCare.

Some of our "drip catchers." See "Things That Work" on my blog. Feb. 10.

Karen and I wringing water out of our socks--the only picture from our Sunday afternoon adventure (see my blog). Feb. 8.

The other evening I walked into the living room and saw this:

It amused me because I was reading "Three Cups of Tea," a book about Pakistan, and the girls on the cover were wearing headscarves just like Rachel's. So then of course Rachel thought I had to try it too:

We took quite a few pictures of various poses. Two silly girls enjoying a quiet evening at home. Jan. 16.

Rachel, Glenda and I went to Stormer Lake for several days over New Years. One snowy, windy afternoon we went sliding. Cold, but fun. Jan. 3.

Yvonne and Rachel on their wild steeds.

Glenda (and I right behind her) hit the trees.

Where's Sarah in this picture?

Sarah hits the powder (you can't really see, but she's covered literally from head to toe, with only the smallest of slits between hat and scarf to see out) and I make a more successful run.

Here's one of us out snowshoeing. L to R: Rachel, Yvonne, Glenda, Sarah. Jan. 2.

Awhile back, I mentioned wanting an apron and I was surprised to get FOUR aprons for Christmas. Or sort of aprons, anyway. Glenda started making one and gave up on it due to her time-consuming technique (she was sewing tiny bits of fabric together in a big collage) but she put the jagged piece of material in my stocking anyway. Her second attempt needs a bit of fine-tuning and then will fit me just fine. Sarah also heard my apron comment and using her boundless creativity, made me a snazzy apron from duct tape and a garbage bag. Her gift box also contained a "normal" green chef's apron. How fun.
